Winner of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, The Flick is a love letter to cinema and to the quiet, complicated connections forged in the dark.
Set inside a run-down Massachusetts movie theater that still projects 35mm film, The Flick follows three underpaid employees tasked with sweeping up popcorn and cleaning aisles long after the credits roll. For Avery, the job is more than a paycheck—it’s a chance to be closer to the art form he reveres. As he debates movies with co-workers Sam and Rose, tentative friendships emerge, shaped by humor, longing, and vulnerability. But when unspoken needs surface, those bonds are tested in unexpected ways.
Written by Annie Baker and directed by Kyle J. Britt, The Flick is a deeply human, quietly powerful exploration of love, loneliness, and what it means to truly see one another, on screen and off.
