Celebrate Juneteenth and re-live the “Summer of Soul.”

During the same summer as Woodstock, over 300,000 people attended the Harlem Cultural Festival, celebrating African American music and culture, and promoting Black pride and unity. The footage from the festival sat in a basement, unseen for over 50 years, keeping this incredible event in America’s history lost — until now.

Winner, Best Documentary Feature at the 2022 Academy Awards.

*Join us afterward for a post-film discussion featuring Ajané K. Williams, DJ, video artist, sound artist, and founder of UFO House, alongside Nigel Malone (also known as NXGXL), an artist, producer, and audio engineer. The discussion will be moderated by Angel Truesdale, Social Sciences & Business Librarian at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
