Gregory Maassen is an award-winning documentary filmmaker with over two decades of experience in editing and audio-visual production. His work spans diverse assignments across Asia, Southern Africa, Europe, and the United States, showcasing his ability to tell compelling stories across cultures and contexts.

Gregory earned a Master’s in TV and Film Production at American University (2024) and a PhD in Business Administration (1999). As a Fulbright Scholar, he draws on a rich academic and professional background to bring a unique perspective to his work. His first feature-length documentary, After Ike, made waves on the film festival circuit and will enjoy nationwide PBS distribution in 2026.

He is the founder of Wandel Guides LLC, the production company for the “Only Lazy Americans E-bike” documentary, founder of E-bike Lovers, an inclusive community organization in Washington DC, and a teaching artist at Docs in Progress (Davinci Resolve Editing).

Dr. Ahmet Hoke is a Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the W. W. Smith Charitable Trust Professor of Neuroimmunology. He serves as Director of the Neuromuscular Division and the Merkin Peripheral Neuropathy and Nerve Regeneration Center at Johns Hopkins.

A physician-scientist specializing in neuromuscular disorders, peripheral neuropathies, and nerve injuries, Dr. Hoke’s clinical and research work focuses on understanding the causes and mechanisms of peripheral nerve damage and developing new approaches to diagnosis, treatment, neuroprotection, and nerve regeneration. His research includes toxic, inflammatory, diabetic, and inherited neuropathies, as well as traumatic nerve injuries and the biological mechanisms underlying axonal damage and regeneration.

Dr. Hoke earned his medical degree from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey, followed by a PhD in developmental neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University. He completed his neurology residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and fellowship training in neuromuscular medicine at the University of Calgary before joining the Johns Hopkins faculty.

His contributions to neurology and peripheral nerve research have earned numerous honors, including the Derek Denny-Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award, the Wolfe Neuropathy Research Award, the Myung Memorial Lecture Award, the Dr. Nejat Eczacibasi Medical Scientist Award, and the Alan J. Gebhart Prize for Excellence in Peripheral Nerve Research. He also serves in leadership roles within the neurological research community and is Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology.
