On-Gaku: Our Sound – When bored teenagers search for thrills, sometimes the only answer is rock ’n’ roll. With no musical training, no money, and even an incomplete drum set, a notorious trio of high school delinquents decides they are destined for musical greatness. Their mission: impress their only friend Aya, avoid a rival gang, and, most importantly, make some noise.
Animated almost entirely by director Kenji Iwaisawa and featuring a lead performance by Japanese alt-rock legend Shintaro Sakamoto, On-Gaku: Our Sound offers a highly original take on the slacker comedy genre. This lo-fi buddy film builds toward a powerful, electrifying musical finale that will leave audiences wanting an immediate encore.
