Join us for a screening of Season’s Feedings followed by a conversation with filmmakers Charlie Bagwell and Arya Mehta. The discussion will explore the film’s cinematic influences, the creative and logistical realities of working within an independent production budget, and the collaborative process behind bringing the project to life. Bagwell and Mehta will also reflect on the benefits and challenges of pursuing filmmaking through academic institutions while navigating the evolving landscape of independent cinema.

Synopsis: Season’s Feedings — At Christmastime, two feuding vampires attempt to settle their longstanding rivalry. Caught in the middle of the conflict is college student Lydia, who must rely on a mysterious paranormal expert to survive the night.

Charlie Bagwell is a rising senior at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying screenwriting, film analysis, and media production. Influenced by Dante Alighieri, Bong Joon-ho, and the Coen Brothers, Charlie has written and directed three independent short films through UNC’s Student Film Association. He hopes to one day bring Gremlins 3 to the big screen.

Arya Mehta is a rising senior at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying Media & Journalism and Psychology. She is pursuing a career in filmmaking with plans to create both documentary and narrative films. Her greatest aspiration is to premiere a film in an IMAX dome theater.

The discussion will be moderated by Mercy Kinsey (UNCSA, 2027).

Mercy Kinsey is a writer and producer from Charlotte, NC who has always had a passion for the expression of written word. Having always been inclined to the arts, starting with theater then making a transition to the silver screen, she has made it her mission to contribute to projects that uplift diversity and begin conversations that are often silenced. After their 2027 graduation from University of North Carolina School of the Arts where she studied Filmmaking and minored in Creative Writing; she plans to continue studying to hone her artistic passions in a graduate program abroad.
