Community Impact Film Series (CIFS) 2026
Run Time: 180 min. Release Year: 2026

Mission
The Community Impact Film Series (CIFS) is a free public program at The Independent Picture House (IPH) that uses independent, documentary, international, and arthouse cinema to spark meaningful dialogue around critical social issues impacting the Charlotte community and beyond.
Through film, conversation, and community engagement, CIFS informs, inspires, and connects audiences to vital resources and opportunities for collective action.
Program Overview
Each CIFS program centers on a timely social theme—such as mental health, women’s health, immigration, environmental awareness, or homelessness—and extends the experience beyond the screen.
CIFS events may include:
-
Pre- and post-screening workshops, discussions, and panels
-
Filmmakers, scholars, practitioners, and grassroots organizers as guest speakers
-
Resource fairs that connect attendees with local organizations and support networks
Community Impact
CIFS is more than a film series—it is a platform for advocacy, education, and empowerment. The program seeks to:
-
Amplify marginalized and underrepresented voices
-
Foster empathy and dialogue through the power of storytelling
-
Strengthen collaboration among community partners
-
Connect residents to local organizations, services, and resources
By bringing people together around film and conversation, CIFS creates space for learning, connection, and meaningful civic engagement.
